Faults found in South Korean military submarines

According to Naval News, experts have identified technical shortcomings of the South Korean KSS-II submarines.

The site quoted South Korean National Assembly member Sin Wonsik as saying, “All nine South Korean KSS-II-class submarines, which were developed from the Type 214 submarines, had power system defects.”

According to Shen, “7 submarines of the above category found defects in the cables of inverter units in the power systems, and two more submarines in which technical defects were found in the power units themselves.”

The site states that “the cause of these problems in submarine systems is still unknown, meaning that submarines operate at sea without the necessary repairs, which can lead to various accidents.”

Each of these submarines has a length of 65 m, a width of 6 m, a displacement equivalent to 1860 tons, and can move at a speed of 20 knots. These submarines are armed with 533 mm torpedoes and Harpoon missiles against sea targets. .
