Best Ways to Remove Old Phone From Google Account

When you purchase a new Android phone, you will be prompted to link it to your Google account before using it. However, it’s equally important to disconnect or remove the phone from your Google account when you decide to sell it. This is especially crucial in case the device falls into the wrong hands. Your personal information and passwords could be easily accessed by someone else.

Moreover, what if the phone gets lost or stolen? How can you disconnect your Google account from a device you cannot access? Fortunately, Google provides a solution by allowing you to disconnect old devices from your account. This feature comes in handy if your device goes missing or you suspect that your account has been hacked from another device.

To check which devices are linked to your Google account and to remove old phones, follow the steps below.

If you have recently purchased a new smartphone, you can easily remove the previous device remotely. Here’s how you can do it.

Step 1: To open the Android Settings menu, tap the gear icon located on the homepage.

Step 2: Scroll to the bottom of the Settings menu and select Google.

Step 3: Tap the ‘Manage your Google Account’ button located at the top of the page.

Step 4: Tap the Menu icon at the bottom-left corner of the page.

Step 5: Choose the Security option from the menu.

Step 6: Tap Manage devices below Your devices in the Security section.

To view devices where your Google account is signed in, open a new window.

Step 7: Tap the three-dot menu icon on a device to remove it.

Step 8: Tap the Sign Out option to disconnect and remove the device from your Google account.

You can also tap the “More Details” button next to the device you want to delete and then tap the “Sign out” button on the page that comes up.

Step 9: Google will show you a message asking you to confirm your action and letting you know that the device will no longer be able to access your account.

To sign out, tap the Sign-out button and confirm the action. Your device will be immediately removed from your Google account, and a notification will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. A new section will also be created to show the devices you have signed out from in the last 28 days. Any old phones or devices you recently signed out from will be listed under this section.
