Telecom Egypt Launches 5G Service on Experimental Basis

Telecom Egypt made the 5G service available on an experimental basis in 5 locations, including the company’s own building in Smart Village, for the first time in Egypt.

License Acquisition

Telecom Egypt obtained the license to provide fifth generation yesterday for $150 million for a period of 15 years. During the company’s press conference in its building in Smart Village, the first fifth generation network in Egypt was launched.

Commercial Operation

Mohamed Nasr, CEO of the company, said that within 5 months the company will begin operating the service commercially in some regions on a limited basis after the end of the testing period.

The 5G network is the fifth generation of wireless cellular technology, and it provides higher upload and download speeds, more consistent connections, and improved capacity compared to previous networks.
