The development of the first marine research unmanned ships has been completed in Russia

The Russian United Shipbuilding Corporation announced the completion of the development and equipping of the country’s first offshore research vessel equipped with self-propelled technologies, Pioneer-M.

“After signing the necessary documents, our company will send the Pioneer-M marine research vessel from its water area to Sevastopol. This vessel was developed by the Middle Neva basin of our company,” the company said in a statement.

The statement added: “The ship should arrive at a new destination in the first half of September next year, after which the ship will be handed over to the customer for its first operational voyage. During the current voyage, the ship will cover about 1.5 km. thousand nautical miles (2778 thousand km), and this journey will take almost 21 days.

Russia began work on the creation of this ship in 2019 as part of the state project 25700, and launched it for the first time in 2021.

Pioneer-M is a small catamaran-type vessel specially designed to participate in marine scientific research, hydrochemical research, and unmanned deep-sea and ocean sounding.
