Samsung promoted the Galaxy S23 Ultra as in able to photograph the moon with high clarity through the “powered zoom” capability, but this capability appears to be deceptive marketing, according to a Reddit investigation reported by the “Apple Insider” site.
The report added that Samsung used artificial intelligence technology to enhance the detail, clarity and accuracy of images of the moon, to make it look like it was taken with a high-resolution telescope and not a mobile phone.
During the experiment, the ibreakphotos investigator downloaded an image of the moon from the Internet, blurred its features and then photographed it with his Samsung mobile phone. That is, the user tricked the phone into taking a picture of the screen computer instead of the moon.
Since the phone didn’t detect the difference, the AI produced a clear image of what it thought was a real moon.
Samsung is promoting its Galaxy S23 Ultra mobile phone as the phone with the most powerful zoom function in the world of mobile phones, with more than 100 times the proximity of the real image.
While the phone does indeed contain, like the videos shot with it, an incredible zoom capability, the images of the moon are in reality images enhanced by artificial intelligence.
