Smart Cold-Weather Suits Developed by Young Scientists in St. Petersburg

Petersburg Diary reports that local young scientists have developed models of smart suits that can generate energy from body movements and temperature differences.

“Our team intends to start producing smart suits that can generate energy from the movements of the human body and temperature differences,” said Alexander Ivanov, a member of the development team. “These suits will also have a climate control system.”

Recall that Cyber Vestis is one of the first Russian smart fashion projects.

For its development, a friction generator, an organic Pellet element, flexible connectors and batteries were used.

Scientists said that the main goal of the project is to popularize “smart” electronics among citizens, so they are confident that their project will be relevant and suitable for both everyday life and for specialized companies whose employees work in harsh climatic conditions. The team of innovators included Alexander Ivanov, Timur Shakirov, Pyotr Khvorostinsky, Makar Pokrovsky, Olga Ryabovskaya, and Daria Mishina took over the project.

The innovation was presented at the Out Venta festival, which took place April 26-29 in Sochi, in southern Russia, where young Russian scientists and engineers presented 400 promising innovations. The festival has become an initiative to introduce promising innovations in the most important economic and social areas, such as the sports industry, fashion, health care, art and others.
