Venmo ensures that only the intended recipient is able to redeem the gift card money. To achieve this, the sender is required to enter the recipient’s Venmo username, email, or phone number. This robust security measure ensures that no one else can add money to their personal account.

In addition, it’s worth noting that the recipient has a time limit of 180 days to redeem the gift card money. If left unclaimed, the funds will be returned back to the sender’s account.

Moreover, this initiative follows Venmo’s recent introduction of Tap to Pay support on Android for U.S.-based merchants, as well as the launch of teen accounts and debit cards in May.
