Meta Plans to Launch Web Version of Threads: What Users Can Expect

Meta Plans to Launch Web Version of Threads

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Meta is planning to launch a web version of its micro-blogging platform, Threads.

Sources quoted by the newspaper stated that the launch of the web version will happen soon, although the plans are not yet final and may be subject to change.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, previously announced that the company is actively working on making the web version of Threads available. Additionally, Zuckerberg pledged to improve the search feature within the platform and promised its availability within the next few weeks.

In a recent post, Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, confirmed that Meta is currently testing a preliminary version of the web version of Threads. However, he emphasized that some adjustments and improvements are still needed before its wider launch.

Threads: Meta’s Response to User Dissatisfaction with Elon Musk’s Policies

Meta launched Threads in early July as a platform derived from Instagram aimed at competing with the X platform, formerly known as Twitter. The launch was in response to a significant number of users expressing their discontent with Elon Musk’s policies as the current owner of X.

The initial days after the launch of Threads saw a high influx of users, with the number of active users exceeding 100 million in less than a week. However, the platform witnessed a subsequent decline in active users and a sharp decrease in user interaction.

Currently, Threads can only be accessed through the free mobile app available for download from the App Store or Google Play. However, the upcoming web version of the platform will enable access to user accounts via web browsers on different computers.
