Meta Web Service to Launch Soon on Threads Platform
Introduction
It is expected that Meta web service will soon be released for its Threads platform, hoping to gain an additional advantage in its competition with the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, amid the dwindling number of users through the new application.
Meta did not say when the service would launch, but Instagram chief Adam Mosseri said it could happen soon.
Possible Launch Date
“We are close to the web…” Mosseri said in a post on Threads on Friday. The launch could happen as early as this week, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Threads, which launched as an app on July 5 and gained 100 million users in just five days, has seen its popularity decline as users have returned to using Elon Musk’s most popular platform, X.
In just over a month, the number of daily active users on Threads’ Android app has fallen to 10.3 million from a peak of 49.3 million, according to a report from analytics platform Likeweb dated August 10.
New Features and Expectations
Meanwhile, the company is moving quickly to launch new features. The user can now enable post notifications for accounts. In addition to the company’s attempt to display publications in an organized manner.
It is also expected to develop a “Meta” search service on “Threads”, where the user will be able to search for specific publications and not just accounts.
The Challenges for Threads Platform
A report by the “Financial Times” newspaper, seen by Agency, revealed the two most prominent reasons for the inability of the “Threads” platform to overthrow “X”, despite the rapid use of the platform in the first days of its launch, as well as the appropriate “Meta” timing for the release.
First, like Clubhouse and Substack before it, Threads misunderstands what makes X/Twitter such a platform of mass interest.
Most of us get bored during the day and crave some “low stakes drama.”
The second reason is “attachment to the digital society”. According to the Financial Times, once a social media service builds a large user base, the user base itself becomes a reason for users to stay. This applies even more to Twitter-like social media, which is driven by reactions to daily public events.
“You are using the platform not only because your friends or acquaintances are on it, but because of the delusion that all members of society as a whole are using the platform.”
