Chinese Government Imposes Strict Inte Regulations on Minors

Introduction

Chinese people under the age of 18 will soon be banned from using the inte at night on their smartphones, and their daily time online will be limited, under a new anti-inte addiction law unveiled on Wednesday.

The law, which is supposed to enter into force on the second of September after an organizational public consultation session, stipulates that any minor is prohibited from using the Inte via any mobile device between the hours of ten in the evening and six in the morning.

In addition, a system that limits the daily time spent by minors browsing the Inte via smartphones will be installed on phones, as those between the ages of 16 and 17 are entitled to use the Inte for two hours, compared to only 40 minutes for children under eight.

Strict Regulations to Be Implemented

These new rules proposed by the China Cyberspace Administration will be implemented through technical means that are among the most stringent in the world in this regard.

Parents can turn off these features if they wish.

According to the Chinese Cyberspace Administration, these new measures allow “creating a safe and healthy Inte environment for minors,” following other measures taken by the Chinese authorities in recent years to “limit minors’ use of the Inte.”

In recent years, China has issued many laws aimed at this goal.

And since 2021, it has limited the amount of time children can spend each day playing online. It also froze the approval of new video games for nine months, which destabilized many technology companies, most notably Tencent.
