Apple released iOS 16.2 earlier this month, allowing users to update their Home app to a new, more “stable” architecture. After iOS 16.2, users were allowed to update the Home app to the new architecture, which Apple had previewed in June.

Despite Apple’s claims that the update would enhance the functionality of the Home app, many users reported that the update broke their HomeKit setups, scenes, and devices. Apple eventually pulled the update after discovering its widespread problems but promised it would be back in the future.

Apple has now added the Home app update to a database of internal hardware and software problems, which is unusual for a software-related issue. Only common customer issues, primarily hardware issues, are typically included in the list, which Apple, Apple Stores, and authorized service providers use.

In addition to minor design changes, Apple claims the update gives the Home app “faster, more reliable performance.” When Apple will address the updates’ problems and make them accessible to users once more is unknown. Users having problems after the update should adhere to the company’s instructions until it is fixed.
