The process of modernization of the Russian cruiser “Admiral Nakhimov” continues at the Russian shipping company “Sevmash”.
A company spokesman said the ship’s upgrades are currently affecting the electrical and fuel cycles, adding that last year there were repairs to the ship’s systems and equipment that involved another 150 companies.
Mikhail Budnichenko, General Director of Sevmash, said that repair and modernization work is being carried out according to the schedule approved by the Russian Ministry of Defense and based on a 3D computer model. After preparing the ship’s premises, the cruiser will begin testing.
It is noteworthy that the cruiser “Admiral Nakhimov” project 11442M has a displacement of 23,700 tons, a length of 230 meters, a width of 25 meters. The ship can stay at sea for 60 days.
The upgraded cruiser is planned to be equipped with Zircon supersonic missiles, as well as Caliber cruise missiles and Onyx anti-ship missiles, to make it the most powerful cruiser in the world.
