Twitter: We are aware of the sale online of our users’ data

Twitter acknowledged on Wednesday that it was aware of reports of its users’ data being sold.

He also added, in a statement published on the “Privacy” page of his site, that the sale of tweeter data took place via the Internet.

An internal investigation by the microblogging site concluded that there weren’t any prove that data sold online were the result of the “exploitation of vulnerabilities in electronic systems” in Bluebird.

The investigation concluded that the data sold was part of the data already available to the public, through various sources on the Internet.

400 million users

He pointed to a report released in December 2022 that showed someone had accessed the data of 400 million users, including phone numbers and emails, in based on the security vulnerability discovered earlier that year.

As in November of the same year, a report claimed that “Twitter” user data was leaked to the Internet.

And in January 2023, Twitter monitored an attempt to sell the data of 200 million users, and this prompted it to open a thorough investigation, which concluded that the data of 5.4 million accounts in the leaked accounts were duplicated during the two leaks in November and August of 2022.

In all cases, the leaked information did not include users’ passwords.

Twitter said it is communicating with data protection authorities in several countries on this topic.
