ChatGPT scarcely needs an introduction at this stage. The chatbot caught everyone’s attention late last year and hasn’t let go since, assuring us that it can routinely pass the Turing Test while providing answers to queries and creating new stuff. Like AI, ChatGPT’s features are evolving at a rate few could have imagined. You can preserve your discussions without copying and pasting them elsewhere as one example of such a function.
How to preserve talks with ChatGPT for later
You may have noticed this change if you use ChatGPT mostly on your computer. ChatGPT has included a new sidebar on the desktop that displays all of your previous discussions (at least all of the conversations ChatGPT saved). You don’t need to utilize ChatGPT on your computer to view your prior chats. If you use the ChatGPT online app on your smartphone to ask questions, as I do, you can access this new sidebar by tapping the hamburger menu in the top-left corner of the screen.
Each chat’s title is generated by ChatGPT based on the first query you provide. Cool to witness in action is: As ChatGPT responds to your query, the heading reads “New chat.” When done, it gives the chat a new name that accurately reflects what it said. For instance, I questioned ChatGPT, “What mathematical ideas are crucial to understanding when learning to code?” After responding, the chat’s name changed to “Math for Coding.”
You can rename the conversation if you don’t like the name ChatGPT provided it. Choose the problematic chat, press the pencil symbol to rename it, and then click the checkmark to save it.
These discussions still need to be backed up in this way, at least not in the conventional sense, even though there is no reason to believe ChatGPT will stop saving them in the future. You have a fascinating conversation with the chatbot. You wish to record it for future reference (or to share with your friends). Then, it is still a good idea to copy and paste it into a note on your computer or phone.
How to remove talks from ChatGPT
The automatic cataloging of prior chats may be valuable to certain people rather than others. As ChatGPT was initially extremely ephemeral, you would have a chat, end it, and be prepared to begin something fresh the following time.
It is simple to erase conversations: Choose the chat you wish to delete, then select the trash can icon. You may also erase your previous talks with the “Clear discussions” option at the bottom of the sidebar.
