Billionaire Elon Musk said on Saturday in a tweet that his company, SpaceX, may try to launch a Starship rocket in March.
Musk continued: “If i test remaining will be fine, we will try to launch Starship next month”.
Musk said in January there was a “real possibility” that Starship would launch in late February. He added that a launch attempt in March looked very likely, citing Reuters.
Notably, the “Starship” spacecraft, 120 meters long when integrated with its very heavy booster rocket, is the company’s next-generation launch vehicle, and sits smack in the middle of Musk’s ambitions to make cheaper and more frequent human space travel.
SpaceX has lost several prototypes of the same spacecraft in a series of high-altitude test launches when return landing attempts ended in explosions before the Starship prototype was finally in able to make a safe landing in May 2021.
