If you use Google Photos, you should wait until later to update to iOS 16.3.1. Users say that the update makes the Google Photos app for iPhone no longer work, which causes the app to crash as soon as it is opened.

Even though iOS 16.3.1 just came out a few hours ago, this problem is getting much attention on social media. Users say that it crashes right away after updating to iOS 16.3.1 when they try to open the Google Photos app.
We’ve heard from several 9to5Mac readers who are affected by this bug, and we’ve been able to confirm it ourselves.
As of now, Google hasn’t said anything about this issue. Again, iOS 16.3.1 has only been out for a few hours. Even though an update to iOS causes this bug, it will likely be Google’s job to fix it.
If you already have iOS 16.3.1 and use Google Photos, keep an eye on the App Store for an update. We’ll update this story if we find out more about this problem, like when it will be fixed.
