Interestingly, status updates, which disappear 24 hours after posting, are a popular way for users to share temporary updates with close friends and contacts, and can contain images, videos, animated images (GIFs), text, and more. Today, WhatsApp announced in a post on his blog that he has added a number of new features to the status and has been testing some for some time, such as the audio status feature.

He also added on the first feature, the Private Audience Selector: “Each status you post may not always be appropriate for all your contacts. So we’ve provided some flexibility that allows you to update your privacy settings for each status.” in so you can choose who sees your status each time you update it. As for the Voice Status feature, it allows users to record voice messages that are no longer than 30 seconds and share them in WhatsApp status. And the voice status can be used, according to the company, to send updates of a personal nature, especially if the user prefers to express himself speaking rather than writing.
Among the new features also: Status Reactions, which according to WhatsApp provides users with a quick and easy way to respond to status updates from friends and close contacts.

WhatsApp also indicated that this feature was the #1 user-requested feature after launching the interaction feature last year. Users can quickly respond to a status update by swiping up and then tapping one of eight emojis. And of course, users can reply to the status with text, voice messages, stickers and more.
Among the features that WhatsApp has been testing during the last period are the profile status rings to indicate the presence of new updates (Status Profile Rings). for New Updates) that appears around a contact’s photo when they post new status updates, and can be accessed directly by clicking on the photo. These episodes will be visible in chat lists, group member lists and contact information.
Link preview functionality
It was reported that WhatsApp was also testing the link preview feature in status (Link Previews on Status) which allows users to see a visual preview of the content of links participating in status updates, in similar to what happens when you share links in chats. He said the visual previews improve the look of statuses and also give contacts a better idea of the link before clicking on it.
He also added that it has started rolling out new features to users globally and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
Users can download WhatsApp application for Android via Google Play Store and for iOS system via Apple App Store. The application can also be downloaded for other mobile devices and desktops via its official website.
