With WWDC coming up in less than two months, reports keep coming in. After hearing about iOS 17 last week, we now know more about the hardware Apple plans to bring to the big show, and the much-anticipated AR headset might have some support acts.
Mark Gurman’s latest Power On email says that Apple is working on several new MacBooks, “at least some” of which will be shown off at the WWDC keynote on June 5. Gurman doesn’t say much about specifics, but he does say that the new laptops coming out in June “probably won’t have any major new M3 chips.” Instead, they will run something similar to what the M2 processors do now.”
That means the 15-inch MacBook Air, which has been talked about for months and is supposedly already being made, is coming. It will be Apple’s first 15-inch laptop since 2019 when the company stopped making the 15-inch MacBook Pro and switched to a 16-inch model. The new Air will likely have the same style and specs as the 13-inch model, including an M2 processor and an M2 Pro option.
On the other hand, Gurman’s claim says that more than one M2-based MacBook will be released at WWDC. This could mean that Apple plans to update the M2 MacBook Air or 13-inch MacBook Pro.
