One of the first devices to come out with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip will be the upcoming Xiaomi Poco F5.
Even though the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor is in the best and biggest Android phones, many middle and “budget flagship” phones will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor to add power without raising prices too much. The Poco F5 is an upcoming luxury phone that won’t break the bank. We expected an upgrade from the Snapdragon 870, but the Snapdragon India account has hinted that the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip will be used instead.
The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 was announced in March 2023. It is a 4nm chip with a peak Kryo CPU with one prime (Cortex X2) core, three performance cores, and four economy cores. The chip runs at 2.91GHz, 50% faster than the 7 Gen 1. The GPU and AI Engines have also been made twice as good. In fact, Qualcomm says that the Adreno GPU has the “biggest performance leap in 7-series history” and a 13% improvement in power efficiency overall.

The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 could be good for games because it lets them use Auto Variable Rate Shading and volumetric rendering for fog, smoke, and other particle effects. With better graphics, games like Call of Duty Mobile, Fortnite, and others will look even better.
The processor can work with 120Hz QHD+ screens and even 200-megapixel camera sensors. A Snapdragon X62 5G modem is also included, which can send data at up to 4.4Gbps. With the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, the Poco F5 will also have Quick Charge 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and FastConnect 6900 for Wi-Fi.
It’s unclear what the rest of the specs are, but the Poco F5 could significantly improve over the Poco F4 series in speed.
