Apple Users Frustrated as Bug Triggers Continual Requests for Apple ID Password

This month, Apple’s online services have been down a lot, and it looks like there’s a new problem. Several users say their Apple ID password is always being asked for on their devices. Even after the password is typed in, the system tells the user that the login failed.

Update: Downdetector shows that many people are having trouble using the Apple TV app to watch programming.

Because of a bug, machines keep asking for the Apple ID password

Readers of 9to5Mac and several Twitter users say that the bug has been causing Apple products to always ask for the Apple ID password. Users were sometimes kicked out of their Apple IDs and couldn’t get back in. A user said that his Apple TV+ subscription “disappeared” suddenly, making it hard for him to use the platform.

“So why does my Apple ID ask me to enter my password randomly? I don’t think that’s normal,” said another user.

At this point, it’s unclear how many people the bug harmed. If you search for “Apple ID” on Twitter, you’ll see that most reports of problems come from Brazil and Japan. This could mean that today’s outage only affects a few areas.

Apple’s System Status page, which tells people when there is a problem with one of the company’s online services, doesn’t say that Apple ID is having any trouble. This month, Apple’s Weather app was down for several days and would sometimes run slowly. On April 5, many Apple web services were unavailable for a long time.
