Were you among the lucky recipients of Google’s mistaken money transfer?

Google Pay users have noticed that the company has been sending amounts for free in cash up to $1,000 on their accounts.

It started on Tuesday when Google Pay users turned to the social media asking why they had received payments.

And (Mishal Rahman), a tech journalist, posted a tweet on Twitter, in to which he said, “Ah, it looks like (Google Pay) is giving users random free money right now.” She attached a screenshot of the amounts received to the tweet.

In a series of postconfused Reddit users also posted post comparing the sums received or wondering how they could get the most out of it.

“I’ve now made nearly $100 in 6 different cashback rewards to test the Google Money Transfer experience,” wrote one user.

According to Ars Technica, Google Pay messed up the rewards program, which is very similar to any other rewards program, in which you can earn a discount or a dollar or two for regular use of the service.

But what sets this case apart is that these rewards in money were to be distributed to company employees in change to what is called a “trial use” experience in which developers use their product, such as an application, for a period of time for the purpose of testbefore it is released.

For some reason, these compensation payments were sent to a group of random Google Pay users. As for the company, it attributed the incident to a “mistake”, in an email sent days later to surprised users (Google Bay).

“You received this email because a balance in Unintentional cash was deposited into your account (Google Pay),” the company said. “The issue has since been resolved and, where possible, the balance has been reversed,” it added.

It is assumed that the balances were written off for those who left the money in their accounts (Google Bay), and those who rushed to withdraw the balances won the amounts and the company was not in able to delete them.
