Invention of new artificial blood vessels

An international team of scientists led by the University of Sydney has developed a new technique for making artificial blood vessels.

The journal Advanced Materials notes that for this purpose, the researchers used the protein tropolastin, which is contained in a flexible shell. This protein gradually dissolves and forms artificial blood vessels that mimic natural blood vessels. And the new vessels require less time and cost to produce than those currently used in surgery.

The results of clinical trials showed that the body of mice took this substance, and new cells grew and formed blood vessels in the right places.

It should be noted that this is the first work in which a high degree of similarity with the structure of normal vessels was achieved. This technology can also be used for children who have previously had implants replaced by surgeons as the child grows. Now this is not necessary, because the vessels will grow as the child grows.
