The Chinese Research Expedition published data on the tallest trees in China, and it turned out that the tallest was a spruce with a height of 83.4 meters.
A source in the Shanghai Botanical Garden indicates that this tree is located in a mountain valley southwest of the Tibet Autonomous Region (southwest China). This area, located at an altitude of 2800 meters above sea level, is famous for its mild climate, abundant rainfall and moderate sunshine.
Scientists from the Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences reportedly discovered the tree in May 2022 while searching for trees 75 meters or more tall. Then they estimated the height of this tree with the help of a drone at 83.2 meters.
But a scientific expedition consisting of researchers from the Botanical Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other scientific institutions decided to accurately measure the height of the tree and it turned out to be 83.4 meters. They also measured the diameter of a tree trunk in human height, and it turned out to be 207 cm, which indicates that it is about 380 years old.
