Testing of a new Russian missile carrier has begun "caliber" in the Baltic Sea

The modern small missile ship “Grad” with cruise missiles “Caliber” has passed the test program at the naval training grounds of the Kaliningrad region in the Baltic Sea.

After sea trials, the ship will become part of one of the formations of missile ships and boats of the Baltic Naval Base.

The ship, built at the Zelenodolsk shipyard, is currently undergoing engine and rudder tests. As for his crew, he checks with laboratory engineers the readiness of ship instruments, mechanisms, communications and anchors.

The rocket ship will then proceed to test its speed and ability to maneuver at sea. At the final stage, live ammunition will be fired at sea and air targets. Warships, auxiliary ships and warplanes of the Russian Baltic Fleet are participating in the tests of the ship.

It is noteworthy that missile ships as part of project 21631 have been built at the Zelenodolsk plant of the Russian Navy since 2010. They are equipped with the latest models of guns, missiles, anti-sea landing craft, air defense and radar equipment. Its purpose is to protect the economic zone of the Russian state. The water-jet engine allows the ship to fight in areas of not very great depth. Its 30mm guns are capable of hitting small sea and coastal targets at long range.
