The press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the start of new tests of the Burya ship, equipped with Caliber cruise missiles.
“In the test pools of the Russian Baltic Fleet, a new stage of sea trials of the Burya-Karakurt-type missile ship, which was developed at the Russian Bella plant in Leningrad, has recently begun,” the service said.
The statement added: “During the tests, the ship’s specialists and crew will check the performance of all its systems and mechanisms at sea, especially the power system, guidance equipment, communications and navigation equipment … at maximum speeds and maneuverability, as well as work out weapon systems and after completion of tests “. The ship will be handed over to the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Army.
The Burya is the fourth Karakurt built at the Russian Bella plant as part of the state project 22800. Work on the manufacture of this ship began in 2016, and the first launch took place in 2018.
The Karakurt ships, being developed by Russia under State Project No. 22800, are ship-based missile frigates 67 meters long, 11 meters wide and 800 tons displacement, they can sail up to 2,500 miles at a speed of 30 knots and carry out missions lasting 15 days.
The main armament of these ships includes new 76.2-mm AK-176MA guns, AK-630M anti-aircraft systems and Kalibr-NK attack missiles.
