Russia is testing a new offshore research vessel

The press service of the Russian Defense Ministry announced the start of testing a new naval research ship being developed for the Russian Navy.

“Recently, the stage of sea trials of the Russian research ship of the Navy Anatoly Knyazev, which is being developed as part of the state project 1920, has begun,” the ministry said in a statement.

The statement added: “During the tests, which will take place at the naval training grounds of the Russian Baltic Fleet, specialists will test the ship’s kinetic capabilities, speed and ability to maneuver in the water area, and also use all power systems, navigation equipment and communications. equipment in it, and after completion of all necessary tests, the ship will be transferred to the fleet of the Baltic Army.

The statement stated that the ships being developed by Russia as part of the 1920 project will contribute to the safety of maritime navigation, help guide ships and submarines, provide maintenance and repair services for ships and submarines, and will also be equipped with the latest technologies for marine research.

Each of these ships is over 36 meters long, about 8 meters wide, and is capable of transporting cargo and people up to 1,000 miles, as well as operating on missions for up to 10 days after provisioning and fueling.
