The Russian company Rostec has announced the development of a 3D printer for molding metal parts for the aviation industry.
The company said in a statement: “This printer uses unique technologies to form complex and high-strength parts and housings, including titanium and steel.”
The statement added: “This printer was developed by RT-Capital of our company in cooperation with specialists from the Russian Technical Institute Progress and specialists from the Russian State Technical Institute … This printer uses aluminum alloys, titanium and heat-resistant steel. , and converts it under high pressure and in a vacuum chamber. “From air to metal filaments, these filaments are cast and fused together to become special metal objects used in the aviation industry.”
According to Rostec specialists, the special technologies adopted in the new printer make the objects produced on it complex and highly durable compared to those produced on conventional 3D printers, and the new printer can produce precision parts whose dimensions do not exceed 2 mm.
In recent years, Russia has been working on creating several models of 3D printers and is currently testing methods for this printing on the space station for future use in building places to live on the Moon or Mars.
