Elon Musk said on Twitter on Sunday, just days after taking over one of the social media most influential in the world, that Twitter would adapt its user verification process.
“The whole verification process has been revamped at the moment,” Musk tweeted, without giving further details on what could change.
On Sunday, Twitter’s tech newsletter, citing two people familiar with the matter, said Twitter is considering charging a fee for the blue tick.
Prestigious site dedicated to verifying the identity of the account holder.
The report stated that users would have to subscribe to Twitter’s blue tick for $ 4.99 per month or lose “verified” badges if the project was implemented.
Tesla’s CEO hasn’t made a final decision and the project may still be scrapped, but verification is likely to become part of Twitter’s blue tick, according to the platform.
The blue tick was launched in June last year as the first service in platform subscription that provides “exclusive access to premium features” on a monthly basis, including the ability to edit tweets.
The tweet editing feature was also launched earlier this month, after Musk insisted on using a Twitter poll in April asking millions of his followers if they wanted a button to edit tweets. And more than 70 percent agreed.
