Russia tests modernized helicopters for fire services

Russian Helicopters announced the start of new tests of upgraded Ka-32A11BC helicopters capable of extinguishing fires.

“Recently, a new stage of testing new Ka-32A11BC helicopters has begun,” the company’s press service said in a statement. “These helicopters received engines that allow them to operate in cold weather conditions and increase flight time.” compared to previous generations of Ka-32A helicopters.

“During the tests, the new Ka-32A11BC helicopter flew 37 minutes, and its instruments and equipment showed excellent stability in operation and performance,” the report says.

According to the statement, the helicopter was equipped with VK-2500PS-02 engines developed by the Russian company Rostec, equipped with modern digital navigation systems, a large glass cockpit and equipment that allows the crew to work in conditions from thick smoke caused by fires, as well as equipment that allows pilots to use modern night vision helmets that can be fitted with external equipment to facilitate rescue and firefighting operations.
