Argentina.. Discovery of the remains of a new species of small dinosaur

The National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) has announced that Argentine paleontologists have found the remains of a new species of small dinosaur that lived 70 million years ago.

“A study carried out by CONICET experts on bones found near the village of Salteral Moreno, south of the city of General Roca, showed that these were the bones of a new species of small dinosaur that lived in Argentina at the end of the Cretaceous. 70 million years ago,” the council said in a statement.

Experts named the new dinosaur Patagopelta cristata in reference to the place where it was found. It became clear to specialists that this dinosaur was small compared to other dinosaurs, as it did not exceed 2-3 meters in length.

It should be noted that scientists were not able to assemble a complete skeleton of this dinosaur from the many bones they found, but the information they received during its detailed study was enough to talk about a new type of herbivorous ankylosaurus dinosaur, whose bones are usually found in the northern hemisphere and rarely in the southern half.
