100 former employees have accused Twitter of various legal violations in following its takeover by Elon Musk.
These employees accuse Twitter of discriminating in based on gender by targeting women in the firing campaign that included employees of the organization.
Twitter has also been accused of forcing workers with disabilities out of work after refusing to allow them to work remotely.
These employees also called on Twitter to condemn the workers being fired for criticizing the company and their attempt to organize a strike.
In a related context, after a Twitter poll prompted him to step down from the platform social mediaElon Musk finally broke his silence and explained the future policy he would pursue.
Musk said only verified Twitter subscribers will be allowed to vote in future polls regarding a policy change on the platform in his first comments after millions of users voted for his resignation as chief executive.
Musk announced on Sunday that he would “engage” in the poll results, as the result was confirmed on Monday morning and 57.5% of more than 17 million accounts voted in favor of his resignation from office.
Although Musk, who also runs automaker Tesla and rocket company SpaceX, is an active user of the platform, he did not tweet in the hours following the poll.
His silence was finally broken just before 11.30pm on Monday when he replied “interesting” to a tip from Kim Dotcom, founder of file-sharing site Megaupload, that the poll results were skewed by fake accounts.
In response to another user’s suggestion that “blue subscribers should be the only ones who can vote in polls related to politics,” Musk said, “Good point Twitter will be making this change.”
Before the survey concluded, Musk tweeted: “The question isn’t find a CEO, the question is find a CEO who can keep in Twitter life”.
In response to another tweet, he added: “Nobody wants a position they can actually hold in Twitter life”.
