Russian media are reporting that specialists in the country are working on creating military suits for soldiers that can remotely control drones and combat robots.
A source told the Russian news agency Novosti that “the Legionnaire military suit currently being developed in Russia will receive virtual and augmented reality technologies that will allow the serviceman to remotely control drones and combat robots.”
The source added: “The new suit will have advanced technology compared to what Russia currently uses with the Ratnik military suits. This suit will be made of bulletproof composite armor that will cover the entire body of the fighter.”
According to available information, the project for the production of a promising Russian military suit “Legendary” will be completed within one year instead of the previously planned three years.
Oleg Vostov, deputy director of the Russian company Armkom, has previously indicated that his company is working on a project to develop new military suits for the Russian army, and that these suits will be made from special durable and lightweight materials capable of protecting the military from small arms fire and shrapnel. It will be equipped with equipment to control combat robots, and according to him, “soldiers in the future will not fight directly, but robots and drones will perform combat tasks for them, thereby increasing the chances of the military’s life with the development of modern technologies.”
