Elon Musk apologizes to the Norwegian Foreign Ministry for the Twitter error

American businessman Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, today, Wednesday, apologized for the mistake made by the giant of the social media when the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was wrongly identified as belonging to the state of Nigeria.

Musk commented on the Norwegian Foreign Ministry’s tweet, saying, “Sorry!”

Yesterday, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry asked the Twitter Support Department, via its official account on the microblogging site, to correct the error in defining the account.

“Dear @TwitterSupport, As much as we value our bilateral relations and alphabetical rapprochement with Nigeria, we would appreciate it if we could be identified as Norway,” the Norwegian Foreign Ministry tweeted, alongside a smiling emoji.

And in the official documented account of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, it was identified as a government organization belonging to the state of Nigeria. The names of the prime minister and foreign minister were also misidentified.

In English, the letters Norway are completely different from the letters Nigeria, agreeing only in the first letter “N”.

Within a few hours, it appears that the team microblogging site technician worked to correct the error, as the account of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was described as a Norwegian government institution, but did not respond to the tweet. While Musk responded today with an apology.

Twitter has seen a number of glitches since it was acquired by controversial American billionaire Elon Musk two months ago, such as blue-ticked account verification.
