The press service of the Russian Defense Ministry reported that preparations are underway for the delivery of a new military minesweeper to the Navy.
The department said in a statement: “A new sea minesweeper of the Alexandrite type, developed as part of the state project 12700, has recently passed new tests. During the tests, which took place in Peter the Great Bay, the work was checked by the modern television control system that was installed on the ship, and the radars existing on it were tested.
The statement added: “During the release of the ship at sea, its crew and specialists checked its navigational radar systems, and after completing the necessary series of tests, the official flag will be raised on it and it will be transferred to the Pacific Fleet. Fleet of the Russian army.
Russian Alexandrite ships can travel at a speed of 16.5 knots, in addition to which they are equipped with small uninhabited submarines capable of detecting enemy naval mines and destroying them from a distance.
These ships feature a hull made from a special mixture of plastic and metal, making them impervious to magnetic sea mines.
