The Best Samsung Phone of 2023

The Best Samsung Phone of 2023

The best Samsung phones, from the S22 to the Z Fold 4

Our guide to the best Samsung phones will likely be getting some new entries soon, as it’s likely that the Samsung Galaxy S23 line will be announced in early February. That’s set to include the Galaxy S23 itself, the giant Galaxy S23 Plus, and the super-powerful Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. But there’s no need to wait for these new phones, as loads of excellent Samsung handsets are already available.

Indeed, much of Samsung’s Galaxy line features among the best Android phones, with the S-series also ranking among the best smartphones outright. For anyone considering something a little different, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 have helped make foldable phones more mainstream.

Whether you’re looking for a phone with excellent battery life or one of the best camera phones, the best Samsung phones listed here should fit your needs. At the top of the list is the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, which is expensive but has a phenomenal camera, unique productivity skills, and excellent performance.

Read on as we take you through the best Samsung phones, including links to our in-depth reviews, a quick overview, and the pros and cons of each phone.

The Best Samsung Phones for 2023

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is the best Samsung phone you can buy right now. It combines the best features of the S Ultra line and the Galaxy Note line into one luxurious package. But really, this looks more like a Note than an S. It has a shape like a Note, an S Pen stylus, and a place to put it. This makes it a dream to get things done since you can quickly draw, edit, and take handwritten notes. But the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra also has the excellent camera hardware you’d expect from the line, like an improved 10x optical zoom lens that we were very impressed with in our review.

Whether you get the Exynos 2200 chipset (in Europe) or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 model, there is plenty of power (in most other places). The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is a joy to use because of this and its huge 6.8-inch 120Hz 1440 x 3088 screen.

And we’ve only just begun to look at what this phone can do. There are also a lot of other top-of-the-line features, like a big battery, fast 45W charging, water resistance, and a lot of RAM and storage space.

Samsung Galaxy A53

The Samsung Galaxy A53 isn’t the fastest phone, but it has a lot to offer for the price. It looks good, feels good in your hand, and has a tiny camera bump on the back. It has a 6.5-inch AMOLED screen with full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, making it one of the best-looking screens in this price range. The Samsung Galaxy A53 has a 64MP primary lens, a 12MP ultrawide lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 5MP depth sensor, so it can take pretty good photos with the help of intelligent software options.

Even though the Samsung Galaxy A53 is sometimes slow, we’ll recommend it if you want a great camera and screen without spending much money.

Samsung Galaxy S22

Even though the Samsung Galaxy S22 is the smallest phone in the Galaxy S22 line, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider getting it. In fact, as the least expensive of Samsung’s three flagship phones, it’s a very tempting device and easily one of the best. In our review, we liked how it worked and how stylish and well-made it was. It’s also small for a flagship phone, with a 6.1-inch screen and a small overall size. If you like small phones, this is a great choice. Still, that screen is alright. It has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a clear 1080 x 2340 resolution.

The cameras aren’t as good as the ones on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but they’re still pretty good. The primary camera has a new 50MP sensor, and the ultra-wide and telephoto cameras are also good.

As was said, the phone works well because it has a high-end chipset and 8GB of RAM. However, the chipset varies by region. If you want the biggest or best phone, this is for someone else. However, if you want a capable, small flagship phone that won’t break the bank, the Samsung Galaxy S22 is a good choice.

Samsung Galaxy A13

Even though Chinese competitors give you more for your money, the Galaxy A13 is the best choice if you want a cheap phone with Samsung’s take on Android.

It has the same stylish design as the rest of the current A series, and its user interface, One UI, gives you many ways to make it your own. It also has features you won’t find on other low-cost phones.

Depending on where you get an A13, it’s clear that it’s different. The 50MP primary camera is excellent for the price everywhere, but the US model doesn’t have the 5MP ultrawide secondary camera found on the UK and Australian models. Instead, it has 5G connectivity (up from 4G).

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

Samsung’s best phone for 2021 was the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, which is a phone. Samsung put S Pen support on an S-range phone for the first time, so you can get the best feature of the Galaxy Note line if you want to.

But even without that, this is a beautiful phone with a tremendous four-lens camera that can zoom in 10 times. Our review said it had the best camera zoom of any Android phone that could be bought right now. Since then, the S22 Ultra has beaten it.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra also looks excellent. It has a smooth back of Gorilla Glass with a matte finish that looks better than the shiny Galaxy S20 line. The front of the phone has a curved screen that goes all the way to the edge and is 6.8 inches wide.

And speaking of the screen, this is the first Samsung phone with a QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. And since this is a high-end Samsung screen, it’s one of the best.

There’s also much power, and even though it’s costly, it starts cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra did when it came out.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the best foldable phone you can buy from Samsung, but its price is so high that not everyone can afford it. It has a large, foldable screen that is 7.6 inches wide and a smaller, more traditional screen that is 6.2 inches wide. Both screens are of the high quality you’d expect from an expensive Samsung phone.

A Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset gives it even more power than the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. It also has better cameras than its predecessor, led by a 50MP primary sensor.

Our review also liked how the software was better designed for multitasking this year and felt more at home on a foldable phone.

This isn’t a vast improvement over the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, but it does make an already great foldable phone even better.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

With the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung perfected the clamshell foldable, so it’s not surprising that the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is only a minor upgrade.

This model has a bigger battery, faster charging, and a more powerful chipset, but most other features are the same as the last one.

That’s okay, though, because the Z Flip 3 was a great phone, and the Z Flip 4 is even better. In our review, we were most impressed by how well and small it worked. The bigger battery also helps fix one of Flip 3’s biggest problems.

We hope the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will change more in the future, but for now, this is the best foldable clamshell phone you can buy and one of the best Samsung phones.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus

Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus
Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus

Samsung’s middle-of-the-line phone for 2022 was the Galaxy S22 Plus, but it has much more in common with the regular Galaxy S22 than with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which looks like a Note. So, if you want the best standard Galaxy S model for 2022, this is the one you should get.

It has a big 6.6-inch 1080 x 2340 screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, much power from its high-end chipset and 8GB of RAM, and a good camera with a 50MP primary sensor, a 10MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. During our review, we found that it was best at taking portraits.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus also comes in many different colors, so you can choose how it looks and charge at a suitable 45W. Even so, it’s a pricey phone, and it might be hard to sell between the cheaper and smaller Samsung Galaxy S22 and the top-of-the-line Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

How to Decide Which Samsung Phone is Best for you

People care about different things, but the price, screen size, and battery life are the most important things for many buyers. A big screen is excellent for watching videos, playing games, and even using other apps, but it also makes the phone bigger, heavier, and harder to use with one hand. Other important things about a screen are its refresh rate and resolution. In both cases, the higher the number, the better.

Beyond that, think about what else is important to you in a phone, whether it’s the power, the camera, or something else, and get a phone that’s good at that.

The main points of each of the best Samsung phones are listed above, but if you still need clarification, you can read our total reviews for more information.

What is the Best Samsung Phone in 2023?

When writing, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is the best Samsung phone. But there will be better choices for some, so think about what you need from a phone and how much you want to spend.
