Turkish Navy receives unmanned combat boats

Naval News reported that the Turkish Navy will receive domestic unmanned combat boats.

“The Turkish Defense Industry Authority (SSB) has signed a contract with local companies ARES Shipyard and Meteksan to supply the national fleet with unmanned boats based on the unified ULAQ platform,” the website said.

According to the publication, “the number of ordered boats is not specified, but it is assumed that the first batch of them will be delivered to the Turkish Navy in the next few months.”

Earlier on the site it was mentioned that the ULAQ family of boats being developed by Turkey includes several types: (ISR & EW) boats for reconnaissance and electronic warfare, (MCMV) boats for combating sea mines, (ASW) boats for combating enemy ships and submarines, and (FiFi) boats, fireboats, AUSVs for maritime warfare, and SIDA attack boats.

Available information indicates that the Turkish Navy will purchase upgraded ASuW ULAQ class boats, as these examples will be equipped with 12.7 mm machine guns, 70 mm CIRIT guided missiles and L-UMTAS laser guided missile system, and that these types of missiles capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 8 km.
