Today, Apple released Rapid Security Response (RSR) updates for iPhone and iPad users who have the latest versions of iOS and iPadOS (16.5.1) and macOS Ventura (13.4.1).
Rapid Security Response updates provide iOS and macOS users with security fixes without installing a full software update. Today’s changes fix a WebKit flaw already being used, so it is best to update as soon as possible.
iOS Security Response 16.5.1 can be downloaded through the iPhone or iPad Settings app’s Software Update feature. It is a quick update that only takes a couple of minutes to download and then only needs a quick restart to run. Through System Settings, the macOS update can be put in place.
Once the Rapid Security Response update is installed, iOS 16.5.1 and macOS Ventura 13.4.1 users will see an updated version of the software. Tapping on the version in the About section of Settings will show information about the installed OS version and the Rapid Security Response update. Follow our instructions on how to turn off Rapid Security Response updates on an iPhone. On a Mac, it is also possible to turn off the updates.
Since last year, when iOS 16 and macOS Ventura were released, Apple has been testing the Rapid Security Response tool.
