If you’ve had an iPhone for a long time and like taking pictures, you might remember Camera+. The app was one of the most-used ways to take shots with manual controls on an iPhone. The company that made Camera+ is now back with a new app called Photon, a tool for professional photographers.
Photon App
Developers say Photon gives you “all the control you need to make strong, professional photos.” Photon is similar to other apps like Halide and even Camera+, which is still available on the App Store. It lets you physically adjust and control the iPhone camera before taking pictures.
Users can change the focus, exposure (by changing the camera speed and ISO), and white balance with great accuracy. Photon gives you advanced tools like Focus Peaking, which shows you exactly where the lens focuses to make your photos look great. The app also uses HEIF, JPEG, ProRAW, and RAW picture formats.
When using the main wide lens, users of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max can easily choose between 12-megapixel and 48-megapixel shots with this app. Session Preview is another interesting part of the app. With this function, users can quickly delete photos that don’t look good or share the best ones.
Nol Rosenthal, the Product Manager for LateNiteSoft, told TechCrunch that Photon combines more than 10 years of experience in the photography business into a new experience. He said, “We took the time to rethink everything about the shooting, taking into account all of the feedback we’ve gotten and the effects of our past decisions.”
Try it now
Photon is now on the App Store, but you need an iPhone with iOS 16 or later. You can download it for free, but you have to pay either $3.99 per month or $19.99 per year to use the manual settings. If you’d rather, you can buy a pass that lasts forever for $39.99.
