Apple’s New Patent: A Foldable iPhone That Transforms into a Carpet or Roll of Paper

Innovation in Smartphone Design: Apple’s Patent for a Rotating iPhone

Competition in the Smartphone Market

In light of the intensifying competition among the major smartphone companies, the American company ‘Apple’ has not launched a foldable iPhone like its South Korean competitor ‘Samsung’, and many were surprised by it, but ‘Apple’ could use a new patent to attract new users and make his phone famous: an iPhone that rotates to look like a carpet or a roll of paper.

The Future of Smartphone Design

The thin screen of the phone bends, according to the patent, in certain axes, and the future device includes a layer of protection in glass to protect the interface from scratches and any other damage to it with repeated opening and closing operations.

The patent took into consideration adding coatings to the outer layer against fog, reflections, and static electricity.

Interestingly, ‘Apple’ is expected to launch its new phone, ‘iPhone 15’ next September, but the ‘carpet phone’ is not expected to appear in this expected event, since the earliest possible date is 2024.

Apple’s Patent Portfolio

Despite this, Apple has obtained many patents which never turned into real technologies, and regardless of that, the new innovation could be a window into what phones will be like in the future.

Interestingly, the patent authority had published a few days ago about this patent, noting that those responsible had applied for it last November.

The patent included the iPhone and iPad as possible candidates for this technology.
