A report from Bloomberg on Wednesday says that Apple has made its own generative AI tools to fight with ChatGPT.
Bloomberg cites unnamed sources to say that Apple built a ” Ajax ” framework to build large language models. Apple also built a chatbot service that its engineers call “Apple GPT.”
The report said that this is part of Apple’s plan to fight in the AI space. Apple didn’t answer right away when asked for a response.
Large language models give robots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard their intelligence. This year, Microsoft also launched an AI-powered Bing search that uses ChatGPT. On the other hand, Apple has not yet come out with anything that can compete with these services.
The story also comes after Meta released Llama 2, the second version of its large language model, this week. Llama 2 is now free for commercial use in a deal with Microsoft. Qualcomm is also working with Meta to put Llama 2 AI systems on phones and PCs starting next year.
