Want to try out the new UI for widgets, new watch faces, redesigned apps, new bike and hiking features, and more that are coming with the latest watchOS update? Follow these steps to learn how to get watchOS 10 test for free.
At its WWDC introduction in June, Apple showed off the new major version of watchOS and gave developers the chance to test it on Apple Watch. Then, on July 12, the public test came out.
How to run the free watchOS developer beta is explained below.
Keep in mind that running the beta on your main Apple Watch may not be the best idea, as bugs and performance problems are typical. But if you don’t mind the risks, you can run the beta on any Apple Watch Series 4 or later.
I’ve been using the watchOS 10 test for a few weeks and haven’t had any big problems.
How to install watchOS 10 beta
- Apple has made both the developer beta and public beta free this year. If you don’t see the watchOS 10 beta, you may need to sign in with your Apple ID at beta.apple.com (public) or developer.apple.com (dev) and then try again.
- Backing up your iPhone will also backup your Apple Watch, but remember that downgrading from watchOS 10 to 9 is not possible according to Apple.
- Update your Apple Watch to watchOS 10 beta by following these steps:
- 1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone with iOS 17
- 2. Tap on the My Watch tab at the bottom
- 3. Select General
- 4. Tap on Software Update located at the top
- 5. Choose Beta Updates
- 6. Select watchOS 10 Public or Developer Beta. If it doesn’t appear immediately, wait for a moment.
- 7. Tap Back and the watchOS 10 beta should appear.
- Choose Download and Instal
- Reminder: put your Apple Watch on its charger, keep in range of your iPhone and on WiFi and the installation will happen when it’s at least 50% charged
