Director General of Roscosmos Yuri Borisov during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the International Space Station (ISS) in its current form will not exist after 2030.

Extension of Russian Part of ISS

“By decision of the government, the operation of the Russian part of the International Space Station has been extended until 2028,” Borisov said.

The Fate of ISS after 2030

“But, unfortunately, we are forced to state that the plant in its current form will most likely not exist after 2030. At that time, it is either flooded in a controlled manner or used for other purposes,” he added.

New Russian Orbital Station

“We are working at full speed on the creation of a new Russian orbital station,” he concluded.
